Finance Association

The Finance Association is an active business student organization that strives to provide its members with valuable information and professional contacts. As a business organization, we help maintain communication between the business community and the academic world while expanding networking and career opportunities for our students. A key part of this mission is our Professional Guest Speaker Events and Student and Alumni Panels, where students learn firsthand about a wide range of careers and topics in finance and receive valuable career advice from industry professionals and alumni. These events have also resulted in multiple internship and full-time job opportunities for our students. In addition, the Finance Association offers field trips, cookouts, and other social activities that allow students to connect with fellow students and faculty outside the classroom, while our community service activities provide opportunities for members to give back to the Statesboro community.

Finance Association Field Trips

The Finance Association organizes field trips to financial institutions and companies, giving students the opportunity to experience the finance industry firsthand, learn about different career paths, and network with professionals and potential employers.

Past trips have included a visit to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, where students learned about the Federal Reserve System and monetary policy, toured the Money Museum and cash-processing facilities, and visited the Atlanta Fed’s Board Room.

Finance students also visited the global headquarters of FIS in Jacksonville, Florida, where they participated in leadership and employee panels, attended breakout sessions covering areas such as Strategic Finance, Banking Solutions, Capital Markets, Corporate Risk, and Internal Audit, toured the headquarters, and networked with FIS professionals. Most importantly, the connections created through the FIS visit contributed to three of our students receiving and accepting full-time job offers with FIS.

Finance Association Community Involvement

The Finance Association is committed to giving back to the Statesboro community through a variety of community service projects and local events. Members participated in the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority’s Homes for Heroes project, volunteering their weekends to clean and prepare homes for renovation as part of an initiative to provide affordable housing for local firefighters and police officers.

Finance Association members have also volunteered with Keep Statesboro-Bulloch Beautiful, including at its annual GreenFest, a community event that promotes sustainable living and brings together local families, businesses, and organizations. Our students assisted with event setup, face painting, and other activities. Through these and other service projects, Finance Association members give back to the community while building teamwork and connections beyond the classroom.

Cookouts and Kick-Off Meetings

At the beginning of each semester, Finance Association members come together for a Kick-Off Meeting with their faculty advisor to welcome new and returning students, learn about upcoming events and opportunities, and start the semester together. Throughout the year, cookouts and other social events provide a relaxed and fun environment for students to get to know one another, connect with faculty, and build relationships beyond the classroom.
